This is what kept me from forgiveness. The feeling of all I’ve been through will evaporate if I don’t keep reliving it. That if those who hurt me don’t see what they’ve done, all of my suffering would have been for nothing.

Today I decided to forgive you. Not because you apologized, or because you acknowledged the pain you caused me, but because my soul deserves peace.

I forgive you for treating me the way you feel about yourself.

It took me a long time to understand what it means to forgive someone. I’ve always wondered, “how could I forgive someone who chose to hurt me?”

After a lot of soul searching, I realized that forgiveness is not about accepting or excusing their behavior. It’s about letting go

And preventing it from destroying my heart.

Taking responsibility requires us to own our choices. Sometimes we knew better but chose not to do better.

You often settle for less because you unconsciously settle for what you think is “enough” rather than what you’re worth.

Real apology comes with real change,

Anything other than that is just manipulation.

When people reveal themselves, it’s a gift. Now you know what you’re dealing with.

Don’t pretend you didn’t hear it. Don’t ignore or try to explain away what you saw.

It is what it is.

It’s not healthy to be wondering what’s going through the minds of grown people who you can’t think for. You’ll drive yourself mad.

If you can’t rationalize why someone hurt you it’s because you’re not like them and that should be your closure.

Sometimes people haven’t apologized because they’re ashamed, sometimes you have to be okay with a sorry you never got.

Holding onto that anger only hurts you, never them.

I never knew how strong I was until I had to forgive someone who wasn’t sorry and accept an apology I never received. And probably will never receive.
